Projects
EDS has provided contract drilling services to private clients since we opened in 1989. We have also participated in Federal Government and US Military Projects. Some of our most recent projects include the Avon Park Bombing Range, Cape Canaveral Port Authority, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Kennedy Space Center, Keene Road Landfill, and the Gifford Road Landfill.
Some projects we've participated in overseas were located in Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and Panama. The project in Puerto Rico was completed in July and August of 2003 for CH2M Hill. We worked on an island located just off the coast of the mainland called, Vieques, at the former US Navy Base. The scope of work consisted of Monitor Well Installation, and retrieval of core samples. We also provided on-site Decon and Development of all wells installed. Because the Island was mostly rock we used both Hollow Stem Auger Drilling and Down Hole Hammer Technologies to expedite sampling procedures. Because of our experience with projects of this kind we were able to plan for any problems prior to commencement and to finish ahead of schedule.
The project we completed on the Islands of St. Croix and St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands was done for Southern Energy, Inc. in the summer of 1999. There we also Installed Monitor wells and cored through hard rock to collect samples. The job was running ahead of schedule when a hurricane hit the islands, causing us to cease drilling activities until the weather cleared.
In 1995 we were awarded a contract to provide drilling services in support of the base closures in Panama. We mobilized in early 1996 and stayed in Panama the entire year. We helped to close four Military Facilities while we were there. We installed Monitor wells, took soil and water samples, and closed existing wells.
